Biography : 

Lauren is a PhD student in the Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies with a collaborative specialization through the Women & Gender Studies Institute (WGSI). She also holds an MSc in International Social & Public Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE), a BA in Strategic Communication, and is an alumnus of the U.S. Fulbright program.

Lauren is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but has called a number of cities around the world home. Prior to arriving at the University of Toronto, she worked for several years in policy and campaigning across a variety of issue areas, including healthcare equity, international aid, and political elections. Consequently, she is incredibly interested in the intersection between research, governance, and community engagement. Her research uses qualitative methods to inform policies related to human rights and criminalization through careful investigation of lived realities.
