Mayana Slobodian, Ricardo Blenman honoured with 2024 Centre Awards

Congratulations to this year's Centre Awards recipients, Mayana Slobodian and Ricardo Blenman!

Mayana Slobodian was awarded the 2024 Richard Ericson Paper Award for her paper entitled "The Bare Island Bird Sanctuary and the Great Lie: Land Theft, Conservation, and the Myth of Indigenous Consent at the Royal Commission on Indian Affairs for the Province of British Columbia, 1912-1916." The paper has been accepted for publication in the forthcoming issue of Canadian Historical Review. Mayana is a PhD candidate supervised by Professor Mariana Valverde.

Ricardo Blenman was awarded the 2024 John Edwards Award for overall outstanding performance in the MA program.

On behalf of the CrimSL Graduate Admissions & Awards Committee, CrimSL Graduate Coordinator Professor Beatrice Jauregui presented the awards to Mayana (in abstentia) and Ricardo at the annual CrimSL Convocation Reception on November 1, 2024.
