The Transnational Justice Project is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2025 Critical International Law Summer Lab in Cali, Colombia.

This year’s lab invites participants to critically reconsider justice as an emerging framework that positions transformative justice not as an end, but rather as a pre-condition for more comprehensive forms of reparative justice.

We welcome applications from advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, artists, activists, professionals and community organizations.

How to apply

Applicants should submit the following items for consideration:

  1. a cover letter explaining the value of this Summer Lab for your research, project or initiative.
  2. a 350-500 word abstract describing your research interests, creative work, professional projects, or community-based initiatives relevant to the Summer Lab.
  3. a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume.

The inclusive course cost is USD $2,000 which includes accommodation, meals, registration and transportation for field trips. Air transportation to Cali, Colombia and transfers to and from the hotel to the airport are not included. However, a small number of partial and full fellowships will be available.  For those without fellowship funding, a registration deposit of USD $500 is required at the time of acceptance and will be deducted from the total cost of the institute. Informal simultaneous translation in English-Spanish will be available for all lectures.

Applications are welcomed in both English and Spanish.

*A limited number of fellowships are available for qualified students from the Global South
