CrimSL hosted a Convocation Reception on November 1st for CrimSL’s 19 new Master of Arts graduates.
Warmest CrimSL congratulations went to Alexandra Arredondo, Divya Bali, Ricardo Blenman, Annalise Courturier, Nuren Durdana, Rachel Foy, Erica Genu, Jin Gu, Sophie Haeuber, Kendal Kendasamy, Nishanvir Khosa, Jasvine Kular, Henry Petrelli, Megan Rodrigues, Madelyne Sit, Mikaela Taylor, Virginia Turner, Camryn Webb, and Gabriella Zappulla.
A complement of CrimSL faculty and staff along with friends and family of graduates made it a memorable celebration.
Professor Kamari Clarke, Director, provided welcoming remarks to the crowd and offered her personal congratulations to the graduates. Professor Beatrice Jauregui, Graduate Coordinator, also welcomed everyone, congratulated graduates on their achievements and wished them all the best.
Professor Jauregui then presented two Centre Award certficates. The 2024 John Edwards Award for overall outstanding performance in the MA program was given to Ricardo Blenman. The 2024 Richard Ericson Paper Award went to PhD candidate Mayana Slobodian (Supv: Professor Mariana Valverde) for her paper "The Bare Island Bird Sanctuary and the Great Lie: Land Theft, Conservation, and the Myth of Indigenous Consent at the Royal Commission on Indian Affairs for the Province of British Columbia, 1912-1916."
