Fernando completed his PhD under the supervision of Professor Kelly Hannah-Moffat and was officially conferred the degree at a University of Toronto convocation ceremony on June 2, 2023 .
He says that he is excited about his new position and grateful to his colleagues and supervisor at U of T for their support:
I am thrilled and eager to embark on a new chapter in my academic journey as an Assistant Professor, joining the vibrant community of the Department of Sociology at Brock University.
I am truly grateful for the transformative experience I had at the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto, where I had the privilege of being surrounded by an incredible group of people. They provided me with their friendship and the nurturing environment I needed to grow and navigate my PhD journey, and I am especially indebted to my amazing supervisor, Kelly Hannah-Moffat, for her unwavering support and care.
I look forward to bringing the knowledge and insights gained from this remarkable academic community to my future role at Brock University.
The CrimSL community is proud of Fernando's achievements and we wish him continued success in the future!
